Wednesday Flash Reviews – 6-26-10

Scale is here.  Reviews below.  Let’s get to reading!

Thunderbolts #145 – Good.  Ideas and execution are both solid, a good reboot so far!

Amazing Spider-Man #635 – Good.  Didn’t quite grab me like last week’s issue did, but still a worthwhile read.

Fantastic Four #580 – Good.  If I was a bigger FF fan, I’d probably like this even more.  Hickman is doing good stuff here.

Justice League: Generation lost #4 – Good.  As a JLI fan, I loved this.  This story is also coming together more coherently than Brightest Day.

Green Lantern Corps #49 – Good.  I’m handing out a lot of Goods today, aren’t I?  Hey books like this that are solid reads of the characters you enjoy are what its about.  And there’s a guest appearance in this issue that will make your jaw drop, to boot!

Joker’s Asylum II: Killer Croc – Solid.  These Joker’s Asylum books are all nice reads, but nothing amazing.

Legion of Super-Heroes #2 – Good.  Definitely liking this reboot, as well.

Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #3 – Very Good.  Bruce Wayne + Pirates.  Loving this series to death!

Green Arrow #1 – Good.  Liked this more than I expected.  It ties in solidly with Brightest Day, and is quickly building a supporting cast that should be interesting to follow.

X-Men Legacy #237 – Very Good.  If you aren’t reading the Second Coming crossover by now, you’re missing out.  Can’t believe there’s only one more chapter!

Jurassic Park #1 – Meh.  Was hoping to see an interesting take on Jurassic Park here.  I did not.

Incorruptible #7 – Solid.  Not quite as compelling as Irredeemable, but a decent read nonetheless.

Detective Comics #866 – Solid.  An enjoyable done-in-one Batman story.  Sometimes I wish there were more of these.

Power Girl #13 – Good.  Gotta give the new creative team credit, this issue is worthy of its predecessors.  The art by Sami Basri is simply lovely.  I hope this book continues the excellence.

Dynamo 5: Sins of the Father #1 – Solid.  I enjoy Dynamo 5, but this isn’t the best jumping on point ever.  Try out the series by getting the first TP, and when you get caught up to this book, you’ll enjoy it more.

Avengers #2 – Good.  Do I have to have a smarmy comment for every book?  Sometimes I just enjoy reading it people!

Wolverine Origins #49 – Meh.  So.  This is how it is.  “I’m the best there is at what I do, and what I do isn’t pretty.” is going to be a canonical line now?  Really?  And what was even really going on here?  Heck if I know.  Ugh.

Superman #700 – Good.  It wasn’t quite as awesome as Batman #700.  A page filler of Lois Lane declaring her love for Superman, a really good story of Superman in the early years with Batman, and a solid opening to the JMS run equals a Good read overall.

Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal #4 – Meh.  It isn’t as hamfisted as #3 was.  That is about the best that can be said for this book.  What made DC think it would be a good idea to do to Roy/Red Arrow/Speedy what Marvel did to Speedball in the wake of Civil War?

Hulk #23 – Good.  The origin of the Red Hulk revealed!  Cool story style with plenty of meat to sink your teeth into.

Ultimate Avengers 2 #4 – Solid.  Lovely art, decent story, but still too dang many splash pages, Millar.
