Notes from May 21st – The Day That Lives in Geek Hearts Forever

21May10

So let me get this straight.

You’re telling me that Empire Strikes Back was released thirty years ago today.

Then, on top of that, Pac-Man was unleashed upon us all in about the same twenty-four hour period?

And it has been all downhill for both franchises ever since.

Seriously, though, click on that Pac-Man link to Google’s home page for what might be the greatest Google home page ever.

For those who don’t know, virtually every Friday Warren Ellis and Paul Duffield share with us, completely free, the continuing story of FreakAngels.  Warren is calling today’s episode the perfect jumping on point.  Since it is free, and the entire archive is online, though, why not just start at the beginning?

Remember the movie Super-Size Me?  You know, the one with the guy who went from a vegan diet to a fast food hamburger diet and acted surprised that his body freaked the eff out in response?  Morgan Spurlock is at it again, working on a documentary about San Diego Comic-Con.  Morgan is definitely a good storyteller, I’ll be checking this one out when it comes out.

Were you enjoying Image United?  Wondering where the next chapter is?  Well, wonder no more, thanks to Bleeding Cool. I can’t say I’m surprised by this turn of events, but I’m very disappointed.  I sense a blog post about the nightmare that is late-shipping comics coming in the not-too-distant future.

Finally, what might be the best Final Fantasy cosplay I have ever seen, courtesy of Topless Robot:
